Bantay Kalikasan Projects | H2Hope

In 2006, Bantay Kalikasan felt the need to come up with creative support ventures for the “Save the La Mesa Watershed Project” as it moves on to the demanding protection phase of Metro Manila’s source of water and last remaining forest. Through the initiatives of Ms. Marit Yuchengco, Ms. Raqui Garcia, Ms. Suky Lammoglia, and Mr. Manix Peña, H2Hope came into being. It is a campaign inviting individuals and organizations to protect the natural resources within La Mesa, to ensure the survival of the watershed and to provide clean water supply for generations to come.

H2Hope’s objectives include utilizing God-given artistic talents in raising funds for the protection of the La Mesa Watershed and promoting environmental consciousness and showcasing the beauty of La Mesa through visual images.

The country’s renowned photographers Bencab, Neal Oshima, George Tapan, Wig Tysmans, Bengy Toda, Jojo Guingona, Gutsy Tuason, Mayie Delgado, Mandy Navasero, Isa Lorenzo, Denise Weldon, Romy Gacad, Ralph Diaz and Charlie Altomonte rendered their free services and took pictures at the La Mesa. These photos were eventually staged in a Photo Exhibit entitled “Phases of La Mesa” at the Rockwell Powerplant Mall last March 2, 2007.

H2Hope explored a number of merchandising schemes featuring these photos and came up with beautiful items – the H2Hope products may be viewed in the BK shop. The proceeds of this are channeled to the Save the La Mesa Watershed Project. As H2hope expands its borders, it will eventually support other water-related projects of Bantay Kalikasan.
